One fresh lemon from your kitchen is all you need to grow a beautiful indoor citrus tree. It smells incredible, looks stunning, and yes — it actually fruits.
Step 01 — Extract the Seeds

Cut a fresh lemon and pop out the seeds with a spoon or your fingers. Rinse off the pulp under warm water. Do not let them dry out — lemon seeds must be planted while still moist or they lose viability fast.
🍋 Use 3–4 seeds for best chances. Organic lemons work best.
Step 02 — Plant in a Pot

Fill a small pot with well-draining potting mix. Push each seed 1–2 cm deep and cover lightly with soil. Mist well with water and cover the pot with cling wrap or a clear plastic bag to trap humidity. Place in a warm spot at 20–28°C away from direct harsh sun.
Step 03 — Wait for Sprouts

Sprouts appear in 2–4 weeks. Remove the plastic cover once you see green. Move the pot to your sunniest windowsill — lemon trees need 8+ hours of light daily. Once seedlings reach 5–6 cm, keep the strongest one and gently remove the rest.
💡 South or west-facing windows are ideal for citrus indoors.
Step 04 — Grow & Maintain

Repot into a larger container every time the plant doubles in size. Water when the top 2 cm of soil feels dry — never let it sit in water. Feed with citrus liquid fertiliser once a month. Expect fragrant white flowers in 1–2 years and first lemons shortly after.
🌿 Pro tip: Lemon trees are slow but incredibly low maintenance. The glossy leaves and citrus scent alone make it worth growing.
